  • I just got diagnosed abouta mmonth ago, pretty scary! Thinking back however, it all makes since that I was actually sick for some time, just could not put two and two together-until the pulse ox told on me. So now I am having success with Spiriva-verses the other inhalers. Thank God! Somehing is working to help me breathe better.
  • I have had COPD since 20009 had phenomonia and was a smoker. I am on oxygen, was a league bowler up until i had a flare up in sept 2014 so havent bowled since but really trying to go again miss it like hell. Guess my house is dusty must try to do a better job on that end. Still trying not to stop doing things i like to do i am still driving.
  • I am 46 and have COPD (emphysema) and I suffer from Severe Anxiety Disorders so I don't do very much each day cause I am petrified that I am going to die. I have a panic attack daily that raises my blood pressure so I am on Prozac and blood pressure meds. I had to quit my job after 10 years due to panic attacks. I quit smoking May of 2014 and am confused cause I always heard that if you have emphysema and quit smoking your lungs can evntually get better but they say if you have COPD they will never get better. Isn't COPD and emphysema the same????

@tphelps Thanks so much for reaching out. Please know that you are not alone. Emphysema and COPD are actually two different conditions. This article explains it further if you'd like to have a look: https://copd.newlifeoutlook.com/copd-and-emphysema/

Experiencing anxiety and panic attacks with COPD is also fairly common. You can learn more about it here:

  • I am tired when I get up. I have a wheelchair that have no leg or feet props. I can sit in it and vacuum or cook. Two hours later, I am through. The rest of the day is rough. I make myself get up and move. Otherwise, I am asleep. I have gained weight and I just don't care. I am on antidepressants , thyroid pills , 2 sinus pills, 2 inhalers, celebrex, 2 nose sprays ,and an nebulizer.

I'm finding that air pressure can effect my 02 levels. For instance;we had monsoon like weather where it was pouring for hours. I could barely breath. 02 level dropped. The next day after storm gone it was like nothing happened. Has anyone else noticed the same?
